Welcome to Crispy Farms

This is my first post blogging for our site. I guess the best thing to accomplish here is to let everyone know who we are, what we stand for, and what we hope to accomplish.

First, the introductions, myself and my husband. We have always been drawn to “this sort of stuff” so our hope is being able to turn our passion into our business.

Myself I have been reading Mother Earth News since I was 19 or so, always a real fan. Love that and the Tightwad Gazette. So I guess that’s me. Dirty and cheap 🙂

My husband is English and was raised postwar Britain so he never throws anything away and cannot be trusted around the neighbors trash. He can make anything from scrap, seriously anything, and is drawn toward the SAS (the British version of the US Marines). He is big into survival and is THE person you want around in case of emergency or natural disaster. He works in construction and volunteers his spare time in hurricane relief.

We have 4 children, the oldest is 21 and he and his wife are expecting their first child in July. The youngest (our only girl) just turned three. The middle two (the Piranha Brothers) are 7 and 9 and do exactly what 7 and 9 year old boys do.

Living off the grid has always been our focus since we were married. We have worked toward it in fits and starts, but we are finally reaching a point where our hobby may become our life and that is what we are shooting for.

So please bear with us as we build our family farm into a real business.
